“You’re taking me bowling?” Ali asked when I pulled into the town’s only bowling alley.
It sounded like a good idea. So good we found a babysitter for Jackie, which promised us a night out together. The only problem with the plan was now all I could think about was taking her back to my empty house and giving her a tour of my bed.
Yesterday, watching Ali with her ex, I couldn’t sit back and let him treat her that way. I had to step in and place my claim. No one treats my woman like shit. I may have started this relationship not sure I wanted to get involved, but she’s all mine now. Nobody else can have her. She’d worried about the money if he took her to court, but I promised I had more than enough to pay the fees and a good lawyer. There’s no way Kip would take Jackie away from us.
I put the car in park and smiled over in her direction. “I wanted to see how you handled the balls.”
Her eyes widened, but I laughed and she relaxed. She’d been on edge since he her ex visited. Kip. What fucker had a name like Kip?
The truth of the matter is, I like the bowling alley. I’ve been visiting since I was a kid and I’ve never brought a woman with me, but Ali is special. She’d be around forever so it was high time she learned what she’d signed up for.
“Do I have to rent shoes?” she asked as we walked up the front steps, her eyes darted over the 1970s neon sign on the outside of the building. It’s so old that now it’s considered vintage and they keep it around for prosperity.
I nodded. “Part of the game.”
In reality, I had a pair of shoes and a ball in the trunk, but it wasn’t time to introduce her to that side of me… yet. A man has to play it cool for the first few dates, and even though I’d screwed her against the couch and then a hundred other places, it was still our first date.
The front desk staffer situated Ali with a pair of rental shoes and then I watched her ass as she walked around sticking her fingers in each of the balls, figuring out which one was best. Jerry, the alley manager set us up in lane six and I input our names into the large screen mounted above our area. The outside of the alley might have looked like it was stuck in the seventies, but they updated the inside about ten years ago.
“Okay,” she said, walking up with a smile on her face while holding a big giant pink ball. “I like this one.”
I took the ball from her and wiped it down before putting it in the rack. Light as a feather, it would suck for being thrown down a lane, but I didn’t say anything in case we bet something on a game and I needed a quick win.
